Nostalgia

You want to know the most powerful force there is? Nostalgia. That feeling you get when you pine after yesteryear and beyond, wishing to relive some happy moment. Well, I was suddenly overwhelmed with that wretched feeling and... here I am. And here you are, non-existent readers who I pretend were waiting for my next post like I wait for the new Doctor Who episode. I'm going to deviate from my usual writing prompts and turn this blog into something of a journalistic approach to my college life, back to where it all started.

A lot has changed in the last six months. You know, I never thought six months could be enough time to really transform a person, yet looking back I'm almost certain I don't know that girl. I polished off my first year at BYU with flying colors, and with great delight I started a new chapter in my life: the Film Major. I was accepted and began right away with the Spring term. Word of advice, don't take production classes during Spring term, the class goes at a break neck pace and I nearly escaped with my dignity, however it was not fully in tact after completing my first short film. With the new major also came new accommodations. Much to my pleasure, I was a big girl and found myself my own apartment with a dear friend of mine, let's call her Jane because she is almost Ms. Jane Bennet incarnate (she's a lot funnier though). Jane lives in a complex called Regency, how apt? To Regency I went. As much as I loved life in the dorms, living off campus has been so much livelier! That could be due to the fact that a certain hurricane blew into my life and has endeared herself to me forever. Enter The Bad Wolf, the girl who has become my limpet, well... alright I'm her limpet. We are attached at the hip it seems. The greatest compliment I can ever pay her is that she kriffin' creates herself. The day she moved in I saw the Star Wars fruit snacks in her box and it has been love ever since. You might think Bad Wolf a derogatory term, if you did then you haven't watched Doctor Who. Bad Wolf has this habit of getting me addicted to things I have absolutely no desire for. Though as much as I'd like to blame her for it, it's my addictive personality. It was bound to happen anyway. She dragged me kicking and screaming into the fandom and - oooh David Tennant, okay I'll watch him, but just this once... that was a dirty lie! Long story short: we held each other close as we shed tears of joy during the 50th Anniversary Special.

So I'm now putting the finishing touches on this past semester. Right now I could, correction: should be doing things that usually lead up to finals week. Studying, folding the pile of laundry sitting on my bed, practicing for my final presentation, I should most likely be doing those. But guess what I'm doing instead? Typing this and listening to my room mates sing "ROAR" at the top of their lungs much to my merriment. Jane just said goodnight to her dear Mr. Bingley and things should be quieting down now. However, I just wanted to type this all out to say that I was missing this blog. The snow is crunching all around and I got the warm fuzzies remembering my last couple of blog posts last winter. I'm a sucker for Memory Lane it seems. Perhaps someday I'll learn to live in the moment, but for right now I'm quite content to sit here snuggling with the memories of fond relationships, good company, uplifting music, and all around affection.

A Thousand Apologies, Oh Patient One

So, this whole blogging thing kind of failed due to some strange adjustments in my lifestyle. I have some how changed from being a very text oriented person to someone of the visual persuasion. As much as I hate to say it, I've become  an artist. I know, I know, let the hissing begin. I don't care, though.  There's been a Second Great Awakening within myself of Creativity. Suddenly, story ideas are popping up again like they used to. These new images are invading my subconscious as well, along with those character personalities that are screaming for screen time on my computer. Whether it was Art or a fresh perspective that brought this on, I don't know.

In any case, I felt I should share some of my pieces that I've been working on. Thus far, I've only got a few digital images, but I'll be digitizing my physical pieces as well soon.

I am going to work harder on posting more stories and writings! I know that sounds like an empty promise, but ( and I'm going to take a page out of John Green's book of swears) Charlotte Bronte, I'm going to try to bring more creativity to this forsaken blog.

Without further ado, here are the images.
My need to not do actual homework led to me turning my dear Aubrey's visage into a poster.

This is our Kickstarter poster for the Capstone Film I am involved with. Look for it!

So I made some of the most scrumptious Raspberry Lemonade cupcakes and had fun with the
bright pink frosting the raspberries made. Food is art too!

From Film

So this is a VERY rough cut of my video I'm making for my application. There are no transitions yet and it's still 15 seconds too long. I'd just like a little bit of feedback on what you think and how you think I could improve it thus far.
